Shelby Filangi, she/her, joined CPR as a Digital Producer with the digital team in 2023.
Professional Background:
Shelby previously worked in TV broadcast news, cutting her teeth as a producer and writer at CBS Denver before moving on to KRDO13’s digital team. There, she worked as a digital content producer and became the Digital Content Director. In that role, she worked closely with the 13 Investigates team on multiple in-depth reports.
Shelby was born in Guatemala, raised in southern Colorado, and is a proud coal miner’s great-granddaughter. Shelby enjoys writing fiction and creative non-fiction when she's not in the newsroom. She loves live music, dogs, art, and all things spooky.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in journalism & media communication and a bachelor’s degree in English from Colorado State University.
Awards:
During her time in broadcast journalism, Shelby won multiple regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, was recognized by the Colorado Broadcasters Association, helped win the Overall Excellence Award at the Heartland Emmys, and was part of the KRDO13 team that won a National Edward R. Murrow Award for Breaking News Coverage of the Club Q mass shooting.
